By Mark Lonsdale, Judo Training Development

A modern approach to one of the three principles set down by Professor Jigoro Kano — Jika No Kansei (strive for perfection). We strive for excellence so that we may become better judoka, better instructors, and to best represent judo, our dojo or our national team. But striving for individual perfection or excellence should not be purely selfish endeavors. Just as others selflessly shared their knowledge and wisdom with us, we must be prepared to share our experience with the next generation. Through personal excellence we are better prepared to help others.
