Take a few minutes to think about this quote from the founder of judo, Jigoro Kano:
“The man who is at the peak of his success and the man who has just failed are in exactly the same position. Each must decide what he will do next.”
This speaks to how, as judoka, we handle our successes and failures. Our successes should inspire us to help others. For example, a competitor coming off a big win should be willing to share his or her experience with the next generation of judoka. And even in defeat, a competitor should lose with grace, and then return to training with renewed vigor, setting a positive example for others in the dojo.
